Hi everyone, hope you can help me out. About two months ago I planted a manky bit of ginger about 40mm x 25mm in a pot about 150mm in dia and 150mm high not realy expecting anything. Whough and behold it began to shoot and I now have a lush green stem about 6oomm high and two new shoots coming out. The lush green stem is realy a bonus but where will it go from here.
Will it go to seed? Will the plant produce more ginger? Whats the best way to look after it from here on. Should I re pot it? I would appreciate any advice on tthis matter.

All the best

Sounds to me like you're doing everything right! Ginger can be started from a healthy root, similar to the way potatoes can be grown. If you see it start to flower, increase the nitrogen and decrease the potassium (the first and middle numbers of your fertilizer, respectively). If you have flower stems, simply remove them to keep all the plant's energy going to the root. If you can add a high-phoshorus fertilizer (one with a large third number) that will aid in root development. With most plants, simply keeping the soil moist (but not wet) is a good rule of thumb; give the plant a moderate amount of light, a northern window in the northern hemisphere, a southern window in the southern hemisphere, or use fluorescent lights - just don't give it direct sunlight, and enjoy the great fragrance and taste when you harvest!

maximum all of us is greater conscious of the food market ginger we regularly eat. it is likewise between the least showy. whilst it blooms, it rather is going to likely be a small cone formed greenish yellow flower on a short stem, it is easy to over look in case you do no longer pay close interest on your plant. The foliage is particularly appealing and that's a plant well worth turning out to be in the backyard or in pots. it rather is a tuber ..sure it rather is going to advance off of root cuttings... Planting In early March, bypass on your interior sight food market and purchase a tuber or 2 of ginger. those are somewhat much less costly and are Zingeber officinale the easy fit to be eaten ginger. right this is the link on the subject of this..delight in
