If you don't have a car, would you sell your most prized posession to help a family member? If not, why? Consider that without this surgery your family member would either die or be paralyzed for life. How would you help or not help?

Thanks to everyone who has answered this question honestly, good or bad, no judgment here.

I would like to get at least 20 answers though. This is a personal project it isn't for a class or anything. Please be honest though. This question is not meant to upset anyone. It is to see the different priorities of different people.

One extra note- Please do not answer with "welfare" or other such answers that are not available in most of the world. I also want to note that I already see some excellent answers here both pro and con. There is no right or wrong answer. I just want the truth, and yes I can handle the truth. ;)

I would do whatever it took to help my family get through it including selling my car, getting a loan, even selling my house. My family comes first and I will do anything I can to help them...especially through an illness or injury.

It all depends on how close I am to the sick person and how prized my possession is. If both are very close and precious then ofcourse the person would always win, cause i can always get another thing to replace the one i sold. But first I would exhaust other avenues of finance like loans, insurance, medical aid,etc

If it was one of my parents yes, I would do anything and everything I needed to do to help them. My sister? NO. I would not even think about it for 2 seconds. Might sound kind of cold but she is a horrible person.

no need to sell anything. that is why they have medical assitance. someone can not be denied medical help if it is life threatning or may cause a greater harm.
