As you can see, practically every supermarket and electrical retailer sells these items, and they are specifically designed to clean all CD/DVD 'heads'.
The two idiots who suggested the use of a household cleaner or a damp cloth should both try using their suggestions on their own equipment. Perhaps then they wouldn't post such absolutely ridiculous AND DANGEROUS answers in future.

ASDA do a Disc cleaner, it's a brand called strand. It's basically a dics with a half cm brush on it, therefore when it is played, it brushes the laser reader at the same time. Voila! It's less than a fiver too.

You can buy a disc cleaning cd/dvd at your local music store. HMV, VIRGIN etc. If your not near a store you'll get them posted via the net.

any Comet or currys or even argos do a disc cleaner for your dvd they are about £10.00 (quite reasonable and they do a great job) it is a cd and I dont quite know how they work but they do!!!

Yes you can get "scotch" laser lens cleaner,it will cleaner dvd players &dvd-roms drivers.It is very good as i use it all the time

you should no longer contact the laser on your disk, it too smooth that it may be damage from airborne dirt and dirt or for only for touching, purchase a disk cleansing kit to bathe it, that's offered in workstation shops.
