my daughter started putting on lotion to herself since she was 3 years of age. she is now 6 years old. i think it would be better if you let your child put lotion to himself, it's also one way of letting your child be independent. letting our children grow independently in some ways helps them to stand on their feet. as everybody knows, we parents wont be with them lifetime.

its funny you even have to ask this....what else do you do for this boy...cut up his waffle, pick up his pants after he pottys? I have a 3 year old and that is what i do for him now....but if at 12 he's too lame to put on his own lotion then i'd let the sissy be ashy. Time to cut the cord there mom.

I can't imagine that. I'm sure he would be fine to put lotion on himself. I mean what is going to happen. He is going to overdose on lotion? 12 years old is pretty old to still be doing that for him I think.

i think you probably breast fed to long too , (only a opinion) and really love your child , would do every and anything to please or ease him , but I'm sure you already knew long ago that he was very able to learn and lotion him self but continued , seeing no harm in such action , there are far worse things than a little excess loving . so yes, he's to old for that but not a huge issue over all I would think , don't you?

I think that he could do it by now, I was doing all of that stuff by myself by ten at the oldest.
