My IE displays Microsoft Explorer Provided by Compaq but I need to get rid of the "Provided by Compaq" part...

How can I do that?

You can do that by changing the registry key, go to this website for instructions (http://www.geocities.com/kilian0072002/IEHijack3.htm#1).
Second option is to look for tweek utilities... you can find them in respected sites like CNET.COM or Download.com

[Start] [Run] [Regedit]
Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Modify/Create the Value Name [Window Title] according to the Value Data listed below.
Data Type: REG_SZ [String Value] // Value Name: Window Title
Value Data: [Enter The Text Desired In Title Bar]
Exit Registry and Reboot
