Looks like the Australian penny were first minted in 1911 in London. The only coins minted in Australia were 1/2 and full gold sovereigns. They started around 1855. Only gold coins were minted there in1874. It looks like the penny was not actually minted there until 1919. They used English coins and others such as Spanish-American, until England started to supply coins at regular intervals. You may have a token from one of the stores there. Small change was always scarce, so some stores, as well as bakeries, had tokens made. Need to know what you actually have, before an offer can be made.
