It is relatively easy as swaps go...fyi -the 4.3l v-6 is basically a small block v8 with 2 cylinders cut off so when swapping it out you can still use the entire accessory drive parts setup(belts,brackets,etc) and already have motor mounts in correct place

Bring some KY jelly and a shoe-horn because you're going to need it to wedge a V-8 into a space meant to house a 6 cylinder motor. Actually, you'll probably have to lift the S-10 up, pull the front axle out from underneath it, drop the existing motor down, then lift the new motor up ... and still pray that it all fits before reassembling the entire front end of the pick-up truck.

My suggestion, call a GOOD local mechanic and ask them for a quote. Then double or triple that quote and figure out if a motor swap is really something you want to do.

hey its not that hard i did 2 of them ya need to add a different mount and like he said the fire wall back a little and its easy really drop the trans with the motor its the best way

it is a tight fit. but many people have done it. you will have to dent in your fire wall to fit the destribitor. your s10 needs to be pre 1985 cause after this they neared the frame.
