Well, unless you were told by your doctor to try this, I would say you will get excellent health benefits, an education, 3 meals a day, your own little room, clothing that you don't have to worry about being stylish and maybe even find a little "romance" with someone named Big John or Bubba. Oh yeah, after a few weeks, maybe months, you will probably have a brain that has the same IQ as the person who is supplying it to you. I would have to say that your IQ seems rather small if you even have to ask this question, I suppose you could be having one of it's "health benefits" (zoning out of the real world) by putting it out here knowing full well it's totally illegal and has only led people to go looking for stronger drugs.

But if it makes you feel better, you are the one at risk. When you aren't experiencing the "health benefit", stop and think about what you are doing to your brain and your body, not to mention your future - or lack of one at this rate. Wise up!

Yes, it is a bit of a chicken or the egg question. There's a few things that are clear though. Marijuana combined with existing mental illness is universally a bad thing. It's essentially abused to escape for a short period of time, tolerance develops at varying rates and withdrawal from heavy use tends to result in profound depression characterized by an extremely high rate of suicideality and irritability that persists for two to eight months. The interactions with marijuana and psychiatric meds can be quite catastrophic. One of the most problematic areas this occurs is with depression (though all mental illness has a very high rate of abuse of marijuana), as this apparently through some alterations in brain chemistry that are not entirely clear, hamstrings the effect of antidepressants, basically making depression untreatable via either therapy or medication. It has not been demonstrated to cause a worsening of the illness, though it has been demonstrated to be a stressor that can trigger the development of depression in a vulnerable individual. The two where it comes out really badly are psychotic disorders/schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. In bipolar disorder it triggers the illness, worsens the progression of the disease reulting in more frequent, more severe mood swings, notably characterized by severe manias. It is about the worst you can possibly add to a bipolar condition. In schizophrenia, marijuana is well known to precipitate psychotic breaks in existing schizophrenia, activate the disease in vulnerable individuals, worsen the long term progression in a profound way, and be an actual causative factor in a particular subset of the population where there is a polymorphism in a brain enzyme called COMT. People with this polymorphism who smoke marijuana regularly have a five fold increase in the development of schizophrenia, even without any risk factors. This is, to my knowledge, the only time genuine causation has been established, rather than just placing marijuana as a stressor to activate a condition that there are already risk factors for.

These answers are hilarious. "Yea don't smoke pot or you'll black out and maybe stab somebody".

The benefit is it will releave your stress. Smoke a few hits every night when you get off work and you'll be just fine.

None really. You may feel a little relaxed, but you'll be inhaling toxic smoke, you'll get tar in your lungs, you'll lose short-term memory abilities, you may develop amotivational syndrome, you may become psychologically dependant on it, you'll probably become lazier, you'll eat more and most likely gain weight, you'll be breaking the law, and you'll be losing 10 dollars a week. Good luck!
