I am an American and I do not agree with most of what my country does. America became a world power by taking land that didn't belong to it.

Australia made their claim in 1933. Since 1959, claims on Antarctica have been suspended and the continent is considered politically neutral. Its status is regulated by the 1959 Antarctic Treaty and other related agreements, collectively called the Antarctic Treaty System. Australia was one of the 12 nations that entered into this treaty.

Unlike other world powers, the United States has made no territorial claim in Antarctica nor does it recognize the claims of any other state. (Because of the treaty).
