a young black teen back in the day who went to mississippi to visit a family memember. he wistled at a white woman and a couple of white guys beat him to death. they then sent his body back to chicago, and half of chicago went to the funeral to look at the body to see what the white had done to him. very sad story.

Emmett Till was a boy, around 13, who was from Chicago, I believe, and was killed by a group of white men for supposedly whistling at a white woman. He was beaten and killed very severely. I can't remember the year but I know it was a long time ago, and I know all this from out of my head without doing any research. The story of this boy makes me sick to my stomach that ignorant men who were grown could be so threatened that they would brutally kill a 13 year old boy.His mother fought for him until the day she died.I believe her name was Mamie. She also had an open casket funeral to show the world what hate looked like and could do. And to the ignorant first person who answered this question, why answer a quesion with stupid answers rather than just not answer it at all? I hope Emmett's ghost comes to haunt your as*!

Emmett Louis "Bobo" Till (July 25, 1941 – August 28, 1955) was an African-American teenager from Chicago, Illinois who was brutally murdered in a region of Mississippi known as the Mississippi Delta in the small town of Money in Leflore County. His murder was one of the key events that energized the nascent American Civil Rights Movement. The main suspects for the crime--both white men--were acquitted, but later admitted to committing the crime. Till's mother had an open casket funeral to let everyone see how her son had been abused.

Emment Till was a14-year-old African American who was lynched in 1955 for leering at a white woman. (Please don't reward me with any points. I admit that I took a look at my AP US History Textbook. I just wanted to answer your question and learn more about my heritage, though as an African-American I should already know about this.) Sorry Keisha J if my actions were wrong, and thanks for asking this question.

Wai, if you feel like that towards the African American race, then why in the world did you even respond to this question? How would you feel if I made a truculent response about your race?

Answer by Smart *** White guy. Young black man lynched for supposedly whistling at a white girl, I think, in Oklahoma.
