They deliver mail on Saturdays but not Sundays. However, the mail does continue to "travel" on Sunday. It's just that the Post Offices are closed and mail is not delivered to your home. So really count service and delivery time to be safe as Mon. thru Sat. only.

RE:
Does the USPS work on weekends?
For instance, if a package takes the USPS 2-3 days to deliver, does that include weekends?

Your package is on its way and will keep moving until it is delivered. There are Processing Plants all across the country like the one I work in. We are a 24/7/365 operation. Just about this time, 5 pm, the mail starts coming in from all of the associate POs in our service area, about 300. By Midnight, all of that mail will be dispatched, or held here for more working to our local destinations. No matter the time of day or time of year, there is mail processing going on every second. How else would we be able to deliver around 213 billion pieces of mail each year? In defference to one other answer here, USPS does NOT charge extra for Saturday Delivery. That would be UPS or FedEx. They also charge extra for fuel surcharges, residential deliveries to some areas and, believe it or not, hand off a lot of stuff to the USPS, and they pay us to deliver it because they don't want to go there.

The USPS functions 24/7. And although we consider Saturday a regular delivery day if I were you I would not count Saturday because so many regular businesses are closed. Besides you're dealing with an estimated delivery date and "A watched pot never boils." so just hang in there and your goodies will be there shortly.

I've received deliveries on weekends on many occasions and found US Postal Service to be just as reliable or even better than Fedex,UPS, DHL etc. They normally deliver before scheduled dates for packages and have never disappointed for the past 2 years and over 100 packages and counting. I'm new to the USA, so not privy to any past experience, but cans say that they have impressed for the couple of years that I've used them.

I think it depends on where you live. I live in a large south Texas city... Most of the post offices are open 7am to 5pm M-F and 8am-noon on Saturday. But there is one post office around the airport area that is open 24/7.

Probably not. Everyone needs to have a day off sometime in the week and in America that is Sunday. It probably stays in one place on Suday unless it is getting shipped on a plane.
