I finally started my period. I’ll be 16 very soon but it’s rather weird though, because people tend to think I’m actually more like 18, 19. I think the reason I got it so late was probably from having not-so-good eating habits for a while, but I’m still pretty small (as in my weight, I’m 5'5 and about 95lbs at this point). Anyway I’m quite independent, and my mother & I really are not close. We almost never fight,it's not like that. It seems she is the kind of person who will take anything she can and use it to be condescending. She tends to think very highly of herself (and in her opinion that is a very good thing) and expects me to live up to her standard (When she was younger she modeled). She will act “Above” me in many aspects...I love her...but I don’t particularly enjoy her company. I’ll probably be moving out soon, and going to community college next yr etc. I don't feel any need to say something to her.As long as I can do my thing, I really don't see anything wrong with that.

My guess is that your mother has added MUCH stress to your life & it may have added to you low weight & that may have caused you to start your period later. Tell your mother that you are not her, & you do not have to be just like her. It sounds like she just wants to live her life through you know because she may feel threatened by you being younger than her & get more attension.

I hope you venting your issue feels really good. Good job! Telling someone (even strangers) your problems will help you relieve some stress.

I,m sorry Cristine but i do not know what you are asking. If it is about you blooming late it is normal, or if it is about the relationship you have with your mother, well i was just in the same boat. I hardly ever talked to my mother. I moved out of her house when i turned 18, then we hardly ever talked. I actually missed getting into trouble. Then i had just moved back in with her last month and we talk more than ever and get along great! I guess just give it time, maybe you should move away for a year or two then you will miss eachother....... then you may become best friends who knows.

Your mother appears to be in competition with you. You can love your mother without liking her. You are under no obligation to tell your mother you have started your period if you are uncomfortable or thing that your mother would use it to be condescending. You need to protect yourself when you feel someone is not safe to share private information. It sounds like you have great boundaries for your age, are intelligent, and will ultimately hold your own with your mother if she can't behave. Good luck.

Don't feel dumb. You need to gain weight, though. Your's is very unhealthy. You should weigh more around 120 pounds. Gain it.

So what do you need help with? I also think that you started late because you might be UNDERWEIGHT.
