First they give an ultrasound to see how pregnant someone is. Some clinics in America won't let you look at the screen but, in Canada they do. If the pregnancy is less than 8 or 10 weeks, there is the option to have a chemical abortion. They'll give a pill and the woman can go home to have an induced miscarriage at home and she'll have to go back to the clinic or the hospital to have another ultra sound to make sure it was complete. If it's more than 8 weeks or it's the womans choice, she can have a surgical abortion. They sometimes put women to sleep for this or they sedate them. Basically they use a machine the removed the contents of the uterus. It's less painful than a chemical abortion and only lasts about 20 minutes. After that is over, they'll schedule an appointment to come in 2 weeks later to make sure everything is okay and healed properly.

Go to a clinic, they can give you a pill, or basically suck the fetus out of you.
