Remember some thought the world would end in 2000...it's 2006 now and were all alive and well. Prophecies suggest that the world will end pretty soon. The end of the Mayan calendar falls on December 21, 2012, and that's the date they believe will be judgement day. Interesting reading though.
We will never know whether or not the world will ever end. Nobody is certain about what the future holds. Take each day as it comes and live life to the MAX. For all we know we could spontaneously combust right now lol.

Earth itself will endure until the Sun expands and cools to become a red giant star when it has used most of its hydrogen, and heavy elements, e.g. iron, have accumulated in its core. It is likely to expand so much that it absorbs the inner planets, i.e. Mercury, Venus and Earth. In any case it will burn them to cinders. When will that happen? 5,000,000,000 years is the minimum estimate, and it could be much longer. Various things could happen that would destroy some or all life on Earth but not the planet itself. Nuclear war, a big enough asteroid or comet hitting Earth (This has happened several times.), a nearby supernova, passing through a thick cloud of poisonous material, etc., etc. could destroy all life on our planet. Nuts have been predicting "The End" for centuries. Jesus and some of his disciples evidently believed it'd happen in their time. I've seen books listing dozens of such grim predictions, based upon Revelation, Nostradamus, Mayan calendars, Y2K, etc., etc. All have been wrong, and that will continue, for such stuff is nonsense.

My experiential world will end just when this body dies.
The physical world (Earth) will probably come to a physical end billions of years in the future when the Sun enters its red giant phase and incinerates/bakes the planet.
The social world will probably come apart when energy stores are consumed. I expect around 2100 unless new energy resources are aggressively pursued now.

The earth will end when the sun expands and consumes the earth. Of course life will cease before then due to the temperature increase. I seem to remember that the death of the sun is approx 5 billion years from now.

Hi Jessica, Yes i do believe it will. When GOD walks on earth, and takes the ones that beliefs in him,and never turn their back on him. These are the ones that will return to heaven with him.The ones left will be the ones who turn their back on GOD,and the DEVIL will be collecting all of them. After all the people are all gone,I believe it will begin all over,But with alot of changes,So we all can live in pease, and no wars ever again. There will be no starving ever again. There will be fields and fields of fresh food, and veggies. All sorts of fruit trees for plenty of fruit. There will never be a problem about the color of ones skin.We all will live in pease together, and help one and the other. The earth will be like walking in heaven.

Yes, eventually the planet will get sucked into a black hole, or something like that. People will die out before then though. At the very least, the sun will explode on us and we will die by freezing to death. If you mean like some biblical anti-christ stuff, then in my personal opinion, no. Fundamentalists, this is your chance to randomly blurt out how I'm going to hell. To people saying the sun will expand, shut up you are making it up or are just misimformed. The sun is currently losing mass, not gaining it. It is a star in decline, and will never get bigger.

The material, which is actually a manifestation of energy, will exist eternally but will change form and eventually no longer be recognized as earth. All living things will become just as amorphous as the residuals of earth.
