It can be, if you don't know your spouse that well, if you aren't used to living together, if there are kids in the picture already, etc. I've been married 9 years and the hardest years for me were between the time when my hubby became disabled after on-the-job injury and when he started getting compensation for his disability. I couldn't leave him to work, he'd get all depressed. He is also a busy-body so I had to try to let him help do something sometimes, but not let him get hurt, either. We learned to be real tight on money, there was no budget. Some marriages would have not survived, ours did and was made stronger by the hardships. Good luck to you! Rule of thumb, before nagging or getting mad: think of whether or not whatever you're upset about will be important in 5 years. If not, then just can it and let it go. Don't mention it. You'll both be happier that way.

Because you are still getting to know each other. It's the first three years that are the hardest. Most couples don't make it past those three years this day in age.

It is. Like anything it is a job and both people have to work at it thru the years. It doesn't get any easier as the years go by but with great communication and trust it's bearable

It is like living with your best friend who you have known all your life. Once you move in with each other all the little quirks become major irritations. By the way, you left the toilet seat up again.

Yes, it's the hardest, because then all of a sudden you have a new set of parents (parents-in-law)...and relatives (relatives-in-law)...and they often create most of the stress.

Because you probably aren't used to staying together, and some people just don't adjust well until they've been there for awhile.
