The rule, as always, is to stay away from those that ask you to pay before you can get these surveys.

Legitimate market survey companies such as Pinecone Research recruit members based on demographic characteristics -- e.g. mothers of babies 0-12 years old -- and will send surveys of products and services targeting this demographic group. Pinecone Research, however, pays only $5 per survey -- you're definitely not going to be rich with that. They can give you anywhere from 1-5 at most surveys in a month.

Other companies simply ask you to answer as many research as possible, and you don't earn anything just the chance to win at a raffle (which I find lame).

There are many legitimate sites that you can make some money through, but none that you can make an "income" from, in my experience.

I've listed some of the sites I have taken surveys through and actually been paid (or recieved other rewards like gift cards or CDS) on the following, if you are interested.:

http://www.windhavenweb.com/surveys

I list how they pay you, what I like and dislike about them, whether they have an affiliate or referral program, etc.

There are others out there. Be careful though, there are also scams. Don't sign up for any survey site which asks you to pay to access the surveys. Also watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.

Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated info information that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyones personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Watch out for sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not agregated) to third parties.

Also just recently came across a good survey ratings site that I've found very helpful:

Check this site out. First though, you should create a seperate email account for this, or really any online site you will need to give your email to cause they will spam you with emails. Then go to http://www.*************/index.php?ref=9... and register with that new email. All you have to do is take surveys and answer questions, nothing more, nothing less. You're going to see surveys where you can make anywhere from $10-50 but avoid those. They will end up asking you to buy something or sign up for a trial or something like that and its really not worth it. Stick with the $.50-2.00 surveys. Do 8-12 $1 surveys in an hour...you do the math. Message me if you have any questions

These are not surveys but they have all paid me.
Here are a few free to join opportunities. I have been paid by all of them. You don't earn alot, but it's
free. The first two I earn about $15 per month each. The other 2 about $7 or $8.

I used these programs to save up enough money to get involved in paid opportunities. Here is a paid
opportunity that is doing very well for me. http://jsnapp.prowealthresults.com/?SOURCE=ans

Don't pay to work for any body.
Instead get paid for the work you do.
