Because with every exhale we lose water and also we release certain amount of liquid daily. Liquid water is closest state of "WET" water relative to body temperature so we instinctively choose liquid water. So your body system release chemical waste through these two ways (actually skin also evaporate some water too) and we needed to drink certain amount of water or liquid daily.

The English term used to explain "wet"? Language
Why molecules in a state are neither solid of gaseous?
But in a loose liquid molecular state?
How our sensual input, through humanities sense of touch, and sight - we perceive our world in different states, dry, hard, solid, jelly, vaporous, liquid, coarse, smooth.
So we have language, senses, our worlds actual molecular state - working in combination we get - "wet".
That's my guess.
