These are the the ones which burn little compressed-wood pellets. The advantages are supposed to be that unlike a log fire they are programmable, also you fill a hopper of pellets that keeps the file going for several days. But the fires are very very expensive, so are they worth it?

The one I seen running only uses about a hand full of pellets to burn and puts off lots of heat. The pellets cost about $4 per bag and last about 1-2 days. The stoves are quite expensive though, about 1500-2000 plus install cost.

they are efficient and good.
the fires are expensive, but pellets are (on the average) less expensive than gas or electric.
In the long period, you can save some money...

Yes they are! very efficient and warm with less fuel needed and much more cost efficient as well as cleaner burning.

they are the cleanest source of heat , but it is the messiest to clean. you tend to clean almost every day. yet it puts out the most heat
