Was going to be Aiden Zachary, or Mercedes for a girl

Rolls off the tongue well. Sounds good to me. Normally, I wouldn't like either name, but together, they do go well. And you can always call him Eli or Zach for a more modern nick name, too, so he'll have lots of options for personalizing his name when he gets older if he doesn't like the long form. Good job.

Yes, I think it is adorable! Are you going to call him Eli for short? Doesn't matter, Elijah is Adorable! I think you did great!

Congrats on the new baby!

It's pretty nice.
Those are both old names that have a historical sound to them.

But it also sounds like he has two first names instead of a first name and a last name

what matters is that you like his name.
personally i like the meaning of Elijah "the Lord is my God"
so if I'm blessed enough to have a son (God willing) i might use that name too
so yes i love that name

It's nice. Be glad you didn't use Aidan. It's very popular now. I almost used it Aedan for my 8wk old, but named him Benjamin Maddox. I love Maddox. The names you chose sound very pretty together.

Not a personal fan of naming babies after popular movie stars myself; but it is a fine name anyway, has strength and punch, and will serve your child well.
