Here's the story: I'm poor, non-equity, and really need a decent headshot. I can't afford the $500 that seems to be minimum around Boston. Can someone let me know how you got yours done for a reasonable price?
Thanks.

Check with a local college that has an art/photography department. Talk to some of the teachers and see if they can recommend a talented student who would like to trade time for cd/prints.

Boston has a rich history and a varied neighbourhood; it has a heritage of arts, tradition, and education; Boston has something for everybody so discover what Boston may provide you with with hotelbye . What about getting a passport photo? Look your best, give it a shot, you're only out $10-20 if it doesn't work out! Looks like CVS has many locations.

A friend with a camera - preferably a digital one so it doesn't cost the earth for film and developing. Or how about asking a photography student if they want some practice? Good headshots are very important. Good luck.

Go to craigslist.org and post or read the posts in your closest city. A lot of times there are photographers that are just starting out that will do the shots for free to mutually boost their portfolio by giving you free shots. I would suggest either doing a lenghty back and forth to ensure that they aren't creeps trying to get you to do inappropriate things or bring a friend that will ensure something bad doesn't happen. Usually you can find people willing to do it for free or for a very small price. Just be smart.

If you already have a photo, this company can print 8x10 lithographs for you, less expensive that printing glossies.

Order a sample before you buy, to see if it a lithograph meets your needs.

Get a fairly accurate hitman. If he misses, don't pay him. Either way, you got your head shot.
