My Wife and I have a sex swing, the problem is we have no place to hang it up, so i'm asking some advice, would it be safe to screw it into a ceiling joist, i mean would just one actually be able to support us both, together weigh a total of 300 pounds, we really don't want to attempt it unless we are sure, if not possible, please give advice where we could put it. thanks

We can tell you how we installed the one at our house...

Screw a 2X4 between the ceiling joists flush against the sheetrock. Drill your hole through the 2X4 and down through the sheetrock. Position another 2X4 above the first that parallels the first, but this one sits on top of the two ceiling joists. Drill a hole through this 2X4 in approximatly the same location. Place a long bolt with an eye hook into the ceiling through both 2X4s. Place two washers on the bolt and the nut to hold it up.

The reason you need 2 2X4s is because the top one supports the weight on the two ceiling joists. The bottom one prevents the swaying that will happen from moving the swing. If the swing moves around too much, it creat a bigger hole in the ceiling then you want.

Also, just some advice, if you want a good 'cover' as to why you have a bolt in the ceiling, buy a punching bag and say that the bolt is to hang the punching bag to work out.

Enjoy the swing. We love ours.

I would say the joist would be okay if you hit it center, which is not likely. I cannot think of a safe way to hang it without a support like for a swing. Best of luck.

hmm...they make these 'ceiling fan' boxes that are put in ceiling between joists with extra reinforcements, which are supposed to be pretty strong. A few of those and you're all set.

O! How fun!!! I've always wondered about those they seem like they would be so much fun! I would of expected them to atleast come with something to attach to the ceiling like an anchor to it or something? As far as the weight, I would expect you to be able to use it together, doesn't it have instructions? If not go to where ever you bought this and ask them how to hang it and the weight requirements.
GOOD LUCK!!! & Fun FU*KING!!!!

most of them are made for doorway hanging but,you really should crawl into the attic and attach it through a board that is over lapping at least two joist.use a bolt thru with a nut and washers on the otherside.
