No, No, No. Not under normal circumstances. Unless you are talking about a woman who is in a coma, or under anesthesia to undergo some other surgery such as an appendectomy, then certainly an evil surgeon could remove anything he wanted.

The only ways to remove a woman's eggs are:

1. Surgically removing the entire ovary or ovaries. You would probably notice that. It's extremely unlikely that the eggs in the ovaries could be used to create embryos, because they would be immature.

2. If it happened to be the day before you ovulate, the single egg you are about to ovulate could be removed by either laparoscopic surgery, or using a long needle through the vaginal wall, after performing a vaginal ultrasound to locate the egg follicle. You would probably notice all of this going on.

3. If you are going to do IVF, you would take fertility drugs for a couple of weeks to induce your ovaries to produce a lot of eggs (not just one as normal), and these are removed in an egg retrieval procedure. Hypothetically your doctor could lie about the number of eggs retrieved and "steal" some of them, but usually you would know in advance approximately how many to expect. Certainly you would know there had been an egg retrieval.

So, under normal circumstances there is no way. A doctor can't grab a handfull of eggs during a pelvic exam, for example.

If you were trying to write this into the plot of a story, you'd have to go with the coma or appendectomy business, plus an advance over current egg freezing technology, which is not all that good today.

Yes they could, but she would have to have either general or local anesthetic, to which you would give consent. If you are worried about the actions of a doctor while you are under general anesthetic, don't. A doctor (or anyone for that matter) is not allowed to be alone with an anesthetized patient, they must have at least one other person in the room with them.

So unless you are abducted and knocked out without consent, it would be near impossible for a doctor to 'steal' your eggs.

And by the way, to all you uneducated people out there, a woman is born with all the eggs she will have for life, she cannot make more! Males can make more sperm though. Unless you have an intelligent, informed comment to contribute, I recommend keeping you misconceptions to yourself (will also keep you from looking silly!).

This has actually happened. If a woman has had IVF, the doctor may illegally sell the eggs without the woman's knowledge.

Yes it IS possible, but very unlikely, as I doubt many Drs would want to risk losing their career/facing a huge lawsuit. But if it happens to you, you'll have a huge lawsuit and a huge sum of money after! (not saying that having your eggs taken is a good thing, I'm saying you'll have a huge case and you should punish that Dr for doing that!)

Yes he can, if he is during surgery on her for other reasons. I had my appendix taken out without my knowledge, I only find out when I was having pains in my side and my doctor told me that I didn't have an appendix because he took them out while during a c-section on me, he said they may rupture on me later. I guess they were inflamed.

He or she could, but it would be unethical and illegal. Also, I'm sure the woman would notice, as I understand, it's not an easy procedure.
