I have a four month old and he will fall asleep sometimes during the night and won't burp for me nomatter how long i pat his back for, is this ok? what age to completing stop helping him burp?

If the baby doesn't burp within the first few minutes of you burping them, chances are they don't need to burp. It's alright if they don't always burp because the trapped air will eventually make its way out in the form of gas, but if the baby seems overly full in its tummy, it may have a huge bubble that could make it spit up...just don't stress if a burp doesn't come every time.

i burp my baby for a while, he has bad wind. you will know if you need to keep burping him.

if elijah doesnt burp for me, he will always vomit it up. but if your baby is ok with no burping, then dont worry to much

He may not need to be burp, the reason we burp babies is because when they suck they sometimes suck in air.

I guess if he is not spitting up you don't have to continue doing it. I think usually by 4-6 months their stomachs are not as sensitive. This is one of the reasons babies are started on cereal around this time.

don't keep pounding on it.....if he needs to burp he will do it right away usually.
