Cleopatra VII Philopator (in Greek:Κλεοπάτρα Φιλοπάτωρ; January 69 BC – August 12, 30 BC), later Cleopatra Thea Neotera Philopator kai Philopatris, was queen of Ptolemaic Egypt, the last member of the Ptolemaic dynasty and hence the last Hellenistic ruler of Egypt. Although many other Egyptian Queens shared the name, she is usually known as simply Cleopatra, and all of her similarly named predecessors have mostly been forgotten.

Cleopatra was a co-ruler of Egypt with her father (Ptolemy XII Auletes), her brothers/husbands Ptolemy XIII and Ptolemy XIV and later her son Ptolemy XV Caesarion.

I suppose you mean Cleopatra. Alexander the Great of Macedonia conquered much territory in his short life. When he died, his generals split his vast empire. Ptolemy got Egypt as his share. His descendants ruled Egypt for centuries. Another Ptolemy ruled when Rome moved on Egypt. He married his sister Cleopatra. She eliminated him and became ruler. She had a son by Julius Caesar. After he was assasssinated, she joined Marc Antony who lost to Caesar's nephew and heir Octavian. Cleopatra is said to've let an asp bite her, but some think Octavian had her killed. He called himself Augustus when he took power.

Cleopatra was one of the Ptolomies. Her father, Ptolomy the First, was actually a general of Alexander the Great. Alexander had conqered Egypt, and when he died, his empire was divided up among his generals. So even though she was Roman, she claimed to be Egyptian. And I hate to disappoint you, but I've heard she really wasn't that beautiful--she was a powerful woman, very intelligent, and very well educated, but from the coins I've seen, she wasn't beautiful.
