have a 1982 sierra pickup that just stopped starting. have replaced everything suggested. wondering if the plugs are hooked up wrong. need a diagram and directions for proper firing order. this is a 305, v-8 engine

This is a typical Chevy small block pattern: 18436572.

Assuming #1 is in the "correct spot" you can go from there. Factory had it in the forward position on the passenger side of the distributor, then go clockwise from there.

If it's not set up correctly, you'll have to retime it by bringing the #1 piston to top dead center.

One or more wrong plug wires shouldn't keep it from starting, though it would be out of time and run rough etc. More apt you must deside what is missing, fuel or spark. Guessing that it cranks, but doesn't fire, is not a plug or plug wire in wrong place problem.
