I plan on getting two tattoos before the end of this year... The first one I am going to get is a crown with my name "Sarah" inside of it (because the name Sarah means princess) and angel wings with a halo to represent all of my loved ones I have lost throughout my life. Anyway, I am going to get the angel wings on my shoulder blades but was unsure of where to get the crown... Suggestions would be awesome, and maybe some suggestions on color for both of them! That would be really great.
Also, if you have tattoos, know about them, or whatnot: how much do you think a crown would cost? It won't be too big, or too small... The drawing a friend did seems to be maybe 2-3 inches, but not much more than that...

Forgot to add, don't want one on my stomach/hip because that's the first place to stretch out during child bearing and I don't want it to look nasty.

If you're going to tell me to not get one, don't answer because it's not going to change my mind. My grandma's 70 years old and she has one and doesn't regret it.

i have 3 tattoos. i have one on each shoulder which i absolutely love because if i choose to cover them up i can. i also have a harp on my ankle, that one cost me about 100 dollars and was roughly about the size of my pinkie finger. i think the crown would look great on your lower back (or the nape of your neck as the person above suggested) but i think that means you cant get an epidural when you give birth. my friend has a bumblebee on her right lower backside, almost on her ***, but it looks awesome. that might be a nice place for it too
i think the angel wings would look great in black. white is almost pointless to get because it barely shows up. maybe just the outline of the wings (filling them in will be expensive and painful). the crown you could go with your typical gold. the tattoo artist (if he is a good one) can help you with the colors.
good luck and enjoy!! i love my tattoos and dont regret them at all. i feel as if a body is a canvas of your life, and tattoos just make it more beautiful

Cost- anything in color cost a great deal more but of course looks better. I have purchased several tattoos for my husband in differant states- for a 2 X 4 multicolor drawing it was 250. Price varies with complexity of the drawing as well. As a lady you should consider what it will look like 20 years from now and also if it will show up when you wear something formal etc. I personally think it is nice to have them in a spot that you can cover up easily when you are at work church etc. Coloring- depends on your natural skin tone but if you are lighter, I think sarah written in a brown with golden yellow angel wings, with white highlights/indv. feathers would look nice. Good luck!

Get the crown inbetween the angel wings. The cost will depend on the artist. Maybe 100+. You also don't want to get it too small because the detail of the crown will get sort of blurry over time.
Do the wings in soft pastel/white colors and the crown in a dark gold or yellow. With your name in purple.

I have six tattoos, am 35 years old and all of my tattoos are in places where if I have normal clothes on, no one can tell I have any tattoos. That is definately a must. If I want to show them off, I wear a tank top or whatever. A good place, I think, is at the base of your back or neck. I have tats in both spots. Purple is the color for royalty, that might be cool-with yellow-gold. Your tattoo artist will probably be able to give you some good suggestions, I would go in beforehand and plan, it is for the rest of your life!

I would definitely suggest anywhere that wont sag when you get older(such as the chest area). Only the people at the shop can give you a price. Each one varies with color, size, detail, etc. Remember that the ones you get will still be on you when you're 80 so make sure its nothing you will not want later. I always suggest getting them where they can be covered by clothes. Some employers dont like tattoos showing. I have 1 on my neck, 3 on my back, 1 on my hip, and 5 on my ankles. My sister got one around her belly button and while it did stretch while she was pregnant it is now back to normal. Go to different shops in your area, talk to them, and look at their portfolios.....find the one that does work close to the ones you want.

For me the biggest issue is whether you want it to be seen by the general public. I got mine on my upper arm so I can reveal it or not as I feel is appropriate. My next tattoo will be on a more private area. I just get really annoyed when there is just a corner of the tattoo peeking out. I keep wanting to ask a total stranger to pull down her top so I can see the tattoo that disappears into her bra.
I can't tell you where to put it. That's such a deeply personal decision I just can't go there. I will remind you to not feel constrained by the size of the drawing. The tattoo artist can scale it up or down to almost any size you want. I can't give you any idea on prices because mine was done several years ago by a friend.

speaking from experience...
did you know that
1) there are many great magazines about tattoos?
"Tattoo", "Skin & Ink", "International Tattoo Art" are only a few of them
you can suscribe, or look through them at tattoo shops
and some libraries
you'll see examples of all kinds of tattoos
on all parts of the body
did you know that
2) there are many great shows and expositions about tattoos?
held all around the country (U.S.)
where you can see real people with tattoos on every part of their bodies (and they don't get mad if you look at them up close)
where you can see tattoo contests
featuring people of all ages (so you can see how tattoos "age")
where you can get a tattoo (or make an appointment to get one if the artist is "hot"/in demand)
where you can have ALL of your tattoo questions answered, in detail
where you can WATCH a tattoo being created
did you know that
3) themuseumoftattoos.com
and tattoo100.com (top 100 tattoo websites)
show you 1,000s of tattoos
and, answer all of your questions
about...tattoos
did you know that
4) tattoos are art
and that some people are not great artists
(or, even good artists)
yet, still they have a shop where they ink people?
--you have to take the time to check out the artist's work
some artists are so popular that they are booked months ahead
--keep your eyes open, and when you see someone with a great tattoo, ask him/her who did it
--tattoo prices are determined by size, intricacy,
artist skill/popularity, shop location
think twice about tattooing your face or hands
think about the consequences of getting a tattoo on any part of your body that isn't usually covered by underwear
(possible career/social handicap)
think a long time about YOUR reason for getting a tattoo
it should be done because it reflects who you are
not because it reflects your need to "fit in"
for example, having a tramp tag (above butt crack) was in for awhile, but now it's too common to be cool
(unfortunately, many girls/women thought they were making a statement of individuality by being inked there, and now find themselves just another marked chick)
a good spot for a tattoo
is one inch up
and three inches from the center
of the pubic bone
no sagging (if you don't get fatter)
no wrinkling
no fading
it's your personal secret
(and not many of THEM are left in today's world)
for those special someones
more special
if you don't keep
pulling down your waistband
g'luck
