Your mother can live very well without a gallbladder. My professional advice to her is "follow your pre and postop instructions to the letter, keep all follow up appointments and remember: NPO after midnight."

I had mine removed and I have only two small incisions. It isn't a big deal. Just watch what you eat and drink. If she has surgery it is usually a one day thing.

Really? Maybe an alternative exists. Deit change. Read up on it and ask a real heath care person not a doctor.

be prepared to spend a few nights in the hospital.
pack a bag just in case with a few things from home.
hubby had this done and is doing ok

Tell her not to worry. It is a relatively miner operation. She will have trouble later with gas and not being able to eat much greasy foods.

very common, not especially hazzardous unless something happens like infection or bad reaction to the meds to put her to sleep.

She can live on for a very long time she will be OK

Its not going to hurt as much as she thinks it is and they give good pain medicine

do not eat any greasy foods or anything with milk in it. afterwards if you continue to stay sick go back to your doctor.
