In truth, Bush hasnt really done anything wrong. In fact I think he has gotten it mostly right. Seems like the only truth we can spread about Bush is making jokes about his grammar. Just doesnt feel right to me. I have always been staunch liberal but somehow it just feels "yucky". I am getting tired of whining for whinings sake. Seems like our Dem leaders just want us to hate Bush no matter what. Why? I used to feel guilty and naughty when I thought like this but now it seems redeeming almost "cleansing" in a way. I hope my liberal friends dont hate me and disown me like they did Lieberman but if we could all be honest, I mean truly honest I think we would agree our side isnt offering us anything. Its going to be really hard to look some conservative acquaintances in the eye and say " you were right" but I think I am going to do it. It doesnt feel right fighting for lies anymore.

Look if they are friends, regardless of political affiliations, they will still be friends. If they not, your better off without them. As far as libs doing the slander thing, its only because they are doing thier best not to set down any thing that could be seen as a "position" that way they cant be wrong. What the US needs is someone who is decisive, honest and doesnt play the political card game. Sound like someone we know? i am not going to bash anyone, but do you remember some things that were taught in scouts? Like honor, courage, morals, integrity, values, standards etc?
When a person who stands up and does what they say, and says what they do? America needs real leaders with the courage and conviction to do the job the right way, without all the retrick and trash talk, especially when we have our military out there in harms way. The talk can wait until our men and women in the armed forces are out of harms way, then we can debate it till the cows come home. If those conservative acquaintances dont accept you with a handshake and a welcome aboard, maybe they aren't the people you thought they were, but I bet you will be surprised.

I know how you feel...

I was a Republican all my life until 1992 when I switched to Independent. I changed parties at this point after the Iran/Contra and World Bank scandals of Reagan and Bush Sr.

During the 90s, I voted for Perot twice and never Clinton BUT by the end of the 90s, after educating myself enormously on politics, I began to see the depth of lies, propaganda and manipulation the Republican party was using to win votes.

So, in 2000, I re-registered Democrat and will probably be so the rest of my life.

Btw, from what you have written, you have a long way to go but it is a good sign that you are at least beginning to question truth. That is where I started my journey out of the 'dark side' into the light. I grew up in a hardcore Republican family and was extremely conservative. Part of letting go of that facade was realizing it is the democratic party that are the ones in Washington fighting for me, for you and for our brothers and sisters.

No matter where you end.. and it can be a long journey to find yourself, just seek truth and if you are lucky enough to find it, hang on to it with all that you are.

In my way of thinking, there isn't really enough difference between the Democrats and Republicans to decide which to vote for. Take a look at you're beliefs and then study the various party platforms and see which one most closely matches your beliefs. Support those candidates when you can. Don't worry about being on the "winning" side so much. If more people did that then the politics in our country may take a positive turn. Unfortunately (as in any society), "he who has the gold makes the rules"

Most of the liberal accusations against the bush administration have been disproven anyway:

*Revealing of CIA agent Valerie Plame was done by Armitage and not bush, cheney or rove
*Hurrican Katrina - inefficient local/state government
*N Korea being a nuclear power was already being neglected on during the clinton admin
*Iraq WMD - every nation believed they had them, congress voted for it

if you didn't know why you believed what you believed... then you never were a liberal to begin with... just a pretender...

and if you think Bush has done nothing wrong... then you probably don't pay to much attention to politics... most life-long Republicans admit that he's made quite a few blunders that were doozies... (WMD, Katrina relief, harriet meyers, ports, the whole Iraq debacle, bolton nomination, NCLB, not finding Osama.... to name a few)...

so basically... if you're not paying attention... maybe you should join the Republicans... it's clearly where you belong...

Jose': you make two points... but why did he appologize for katrina relief then? wierd... do you appologize for things that aren't your fault...

and the senators were voting on his "iron clad" proof that those WMD were there... looking back... that proof was just not there, according to Powell, who was involved in the decision-making process, yet we pushed ahead... and powell couldn't take it anymore.. and your excuse for Korea is "they did it too"? what?

I got sick of the lies from the conservative side and all their whining about the liberals. So I switched to the Democratic Party and I'm a better man for it.

I'm guessing you might not have been much of a liberal to begin with.

I agree with you Democratic strat seems to focus more on Bush bashing. I think people want to turn the Iraq war into a Vietnam. Just vote Libertarian Libertarians aren't as closely tied with lobbyist and special interest groups.

Liberals always condemn what Conservatives do without offering solutions of their own...because they have none......It works for them with the uninformed. Liberals offer nothing but complaints. If you don't believe me just wait until the next crying democrat you hear...just whining...no offer of a better idea. Welcome to the THINKING side.

See? The right wing propaganda machine is slowly polluting your brain. Give me one concrete example of something Bush has done right. Afganistan? Iraq? Katrina? Bin Laden? Geneva Convention? The environment? Global Warming? He can't even say "nuclear" right. I rest my case.

I'd have "less trouble believing you" if you ACTUALLY HAD A BACKGROUND IN BEING A LIBERAL. Instead, you start a new character and SAY you are a liberal "who is tired." Sounds so "Shiraz" to me.
