Well, first of all just because someone kisses me doesn't mean i will marry them! Seriously of course i wouldn't sue you. Tho, I realize that CPR can result in a broken rib possibly and then with a broken rib possibly a punctured lung....but, if you do stop to help someone just be sure you have a current CPR card they can sue you if you do mecical treatment and are NOT trained and cause damage to a person. If you can do medical help on a person and do not they can also sue you for not helping an injured person. Can't win either way huh? Though, im sure most people would never do that either way they should be glad just for whatever help you were able to provide for them. The only reason you are able to stop CPR once you start is if you are physically not able to go on or someone else takes over.
Also someone above said that in order to do CPR you have to do really hard compressions...that is NOT true and puncturing a lung is a side effect of it but, it really does NOT happen that often and if you do feel it and you will when it happens i have done that before during a code at the hospital then all you do is re position your hands and go on.

If I needed CPR then I wouldn’t be in any position to tell you to stop or continue.
To successfully perform CPR you have to have really HARD compressions, rib fractures are a common side effect, even for trained Paramedics.
In my state we have a Good Samaritan Laws. If you try to render aid then you can't be held responsible if that aid causes further damage. If you try to pull someone out of a burning car and broke their back then the law would protect you from any civil suit. It is better to have a broken back than to be burned alive. These same laws say that if you DIDN’T render any and all aid then you would be guilty. This is usually used to nail hit and run drivers. But, if you just sat there and watched the guy burn then you would be breaking the law. Of course if you stop and render ANY aid even just calling 911 then you would fill the requirements of the law.
If I had a choice between dying or maybe surviving with some broken ribs; I would tell you to go ahead and push hard.
As far as marrying you I will need to know a lot more about you, and I am probably too old for you.

Well, if I needed CPR, I'd prolly be passed out and couldn't give you my consent, yet I would hope that someone who knew what he/she was doing would perform CPR and save my life, even if it ended up breaking a couple of my ribs. No, if you were doing your best to save me, of course I would not sue you, I'd be glad to be alive and probably thank you for that. It might turn out to be a good friendship, I certainly wouldn't rule it out. More likely, I would consider being friends with you since you'd be so kindhearted as to save the life of a complete stranger. Hypothetically speaking, it could lead to marriage, but probably not ours in particular since I'm already taken. heh!

Many states have "Good Samaritan" laws that prevent a person who performs lifesaving medical care from being sued, even if the person they are saving sustains injuries. So far, I've never been sued and I've performed CPR on a number of folks (and yes, some sustained injuries).

I would be grateful for the broken ribs rather then be dead! I can see a lot of people suing though, pulling the old "oooh but I did not want to live." If someone saved me from death I would be forever thankful and the least I could do is provide them with my companionship.
