Ok.l.. Heres the problem. I am 13 and have not had my period constitatly. A few months ago I thought that i was having my period but it only lasted a day and 1/2. I found blood on my panties at school friday and put on a pad. It wasnt that bad friday. But today it has gotton alil worse and it lasted much longer than a few months ago. I told my mom about it but it still worries me. It seems like when I go to the bathroom there's more blood on the toilet paper than the pad... or does the pad just soak it up and make it look like there is not much on there. Is that normal? Since this is my first REAL period how long should it last... Oh and im not having any cramping (thank goodness) but should i be having some, and is it normal to not have any? Sorry about all the questions... but PLEASE try to answer them all!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!

Your period is coming. Your ovaries are adjusting itself to regulate the discharge of blood. When you go to the bathroom you are putting pressure on your bladder to urinate. When you urinate blood comes out also from the force of the bladder. When you wipe there is a lot of blood. While walking around or sitting up there is no pressure so there is hardly no blood leakage. You may not have cramps now but they will come. When you do have cramps remember this. Take a laxative eliminate all waste from your colon and stomach, drink plenty of warm tea, take some pain killers, stay in bed, Do not eat anything accept soup. Nothing with salt. No, salty foods because salt retains water and the water will build up in the body and make your feet and hands swell . That is not a good feeling. Anyway, I hope that info helped out a lot for you. Oh! the time you stop mark it on your caledar the days you start and the day you ended, then, count 28 days and you will know the day you will have your next period. Then you will know where you are going to be when it starts. Okay!

The amount of time that a girl has her period also can vary. Some girls have periods that last just 2 or 3 days; other girls may have periods that last 7 days or longer. The menstrual flow — meaning how much blood comes out of the vagina — can vary widely from person to person, too. Some girls have such light blood flow that they wonder if they even have their period at all.

Other girls may be concerned that they're losing too much blood. It can be a shock to see all that blood, but it's highly unlikely that a girl will lose too much: For most girls an entire period consists of anywhere from a few spoonfuls to less than 1/2 cup (118 milliliters) of blood — it just looks like a lot! It is possible for a girl to lose an excessive amount of blood during her period, but it's not at all common. (In some cases, a girl can bleed too much because she has a medical condition — such as von Willebrand disease.) The amount of blood a girl loses and how long her period lasts can differ from month to month.

Depending on the girl, menstrual cramps can be dull and achy or sharp and intense, and they can sometimes be felt in the back or the thighs as well as the abdomen. These cramps often become less uncomfortable and sometimes even disappear completely as a girl gets older. In the meantime, many girls and women find that over-the-counter pain medications (like acetaminophen or ibuprofen) can relieve cramps, as can taking a warm bath or applying a warm heating pad to the lower abdomen. Exercising regularly throughout the monthly cycle may help lessen cramps, too. If these things don't help, ask your doctor for advice.

the pad does soak it up, yes. and it's common to see more when you wipe. It should last about (+-) 4 days. not everyone gets cramps, but if you did get them, they would be before your period.

Well it varys 2-7 days usually. And you usually get cramps starting on your 3rd or 4th period. And yes it is normal to get LOTS of blood on the toilet paper... yeah kinda freaked me out at first. I'm saying that this is your first "official" period. Congrats, welcome to womanhood. (PS Periods stink... stupid pms stupid cramping stupid no swimming if you don't wanna wear a tampon... it should be guys that get them!!!)
