Tough question! Since rock is still so new and being reborn in difference genres, I have to say there are best in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and today. I think the "best" are the new for the time - like the Stones, Pink Floyd, and Led Zep in the 60's. Total diversion in the 70's - heavy metal, southern rock, rock mixed with disco, etc. What they call now the "hair bands" of the 80's but still rockin' and fun partying music. The "grunge" sound of the early 90's. And, the wonderful collaboration of rock, rap and metal of the later 90's and now.

The 70's. Rock from the 80's sucked.

It depends on what kind of "rock" you're in to. The 70's was great, 80's had some great music as well (metal was starting to show up more), 90's pretty much sucked (grunge ruined an entire decade), from 00-just recently everything sounded the same mass prduced and three chords. It seems as if heavier music in the past year or so has really started to make a comeback though. We can only hope this trend continues because I can't take another grunge era.

No doubt the 60's and 70's. These were some of the most enduring rockers. The 80's hair bands were cool too.
