do the cops have to be in front or behind you to check your speed on radar?

radar is an acronym for RAdio Detection And Ranging. It measures, using radio waves, the distance from the source to the "target", often metal, that gives a return signature ( a "ping"). Think of it as a spheroid (big ball) sending a call.

Doppler radar, on the other hand, measures how quickly you change from place to place within the radar sphere.

You just have to be within the "sphere of detection" to be, well, busted.

All they need is a clear shot at your car. Hope your not asking this to try to get out of a ticket in court.....

Front, side, back, makes no difference. It's just usually from the front. Who's gonna speed up after they pass a cop?
