Relax before going to bed. Scientists say NOT to watch TV or be on the computer for at least 30 minutes before you go to bed. It has to do with light making the brain wake up.

Try the old fashioned Ginger Snaps and Warm Milk Trick.

I just use Benedryl...it knocks me out cold.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

Melatonin is not a sleeping pill, it is a natural chemical that your body releases when you get tired. Go out and get a bottle of melatonin, and take like 1/2 a pill 30 minutes before you want to go to bed. Then, don't take another like that until about a week later. It stays in your body, and helps you naturally sleep.
Also, maybe drink some hot tea (no caffiene) 30 minutes before you need to go to sleep. Use lavender scented candles in a dim lit room. You can do some meditation. It shows you how to here:

Only go to bed when your tired, if your not then you think about trying to sleep and it takes even longer, dont do stimulating tasks near bedtime (no tv etc) do relaxing tasks to wind yourself down( bath reading etc) dont drink fizzy drinks or coffee near bedtime dont watch horror films! make do to list for the next day If your not getting to sleep get up and do something until you feel tired you might spend some time going to sleep very early but soon you'll get into a habit dont sleep during the day do physical activitie during the day if you do other stress related activities on your bed you will (apparently) associate it with stress and find it harder to sleep I also find not having a clock near useful, i used to check the time and be like : if i fall asleep now i'll get 7 hours sleep etc, if i fall asleep now i get 6 hours sleep if it persists you can always get sleeping tablets

Sleepy Time tea (it does really work, you can find it at Walmart in the tea section), exercise at night, clear you mind. My mind keeps running at bedtime but I try to make it blank or focus on something specific like a good dream I'd like to have and block everything else out.

well you might need a wind down. if its your head still going then you need to find something you like that can occupy you. but if its just you cant sleep maybe you need to exercise and drink a little more water that might help.

As a routine, both you & your hubby should shower and have sex at bed time, it's very relaxing.
