I agree with above but prefer 1- Playtex Gentle Glide. They also come in slim sizes. 2- Tampax Pearl.
I spoke to the doc and the risk from toxic shock isnt as great as it was 20 years ago, but the longest time you should have the same tampon in, is 4 hours, then change it regardless if it is not full.
I prefer to use tampons only on heavier days, or days when I am doing an actifvity, and use pads on lighter days.
Also doc told me not to use scented products.
Over time you will determine what suits you best.
Welcome to womanhood!

Yes, tampons can cause Toxic Shock Syndrome, but as long as you're careful, you should be fine. They make life a hell of a lot easier. I use the regular Tampax tampons with the cardboard applicator (it's biodegradable, so you can flush it), but if you're just starting out then you may want to use the Tampax Pearl tampons (plastic applicator; easier to use).

My mom would not let me use them at first until I realized what kind of flow I was going to have and just so I would really know what is going on down there during that time. After that, I started wearing them and that is all I use during my time. I used to use only tampax brand. I never liked the plastic applicators. They felt slick to me. I did not like the ones that had the star like cut out on the top either, because they would pinch me inside when inserting them. As far as applicators go, I much rather prefer the cardboard ones. Now the last year, I have changed to ob. No applicator and I just LOVE them!! I can not wait until my girls start (sometime soon I believe) and I will have them use them also. They are small and are very descrete and no trash afterwards like with the applicator. I highly recommend ob. But now just to warn you, on your heavy days, your finger might come out with some blood on it. But the advantages out weight that to me.

Platex scented. They are the best against leaks and smell good too.
P.S. The Playtex run large, buy a small size. I have been using these scented tampons for 35 years and my Doctor never said not to and I've never had a problem.

i ought to attempt some distinct manufacturers to work out what you decide on. each female's body is distinct; it truly is why there are one of those massive volume of distinct manufacturers and sizes! What you decide on now, may no longer be your well-known in many years, so do not get stuck on one sort both. With that stated, you look to have an outstanding idea of what you're searching for already, so i ought to point you bypass to the save, look at a pair manufacturers, and take your suitable 2 or 3 faves domicile to attempt!

tampax seems to be longer and skinnier, while playtex is shorter and expands wider. so i guess it depends on what fits ur body better. buy the smallest size pack of each till u figure out which 1 works for u. i personally go for tampax pearl. they arn't as long as cardboard tampax, but longer than plastic playtex - i find them to be a happy medium.

Personally:
Tampax Pearl
or Playtex Gentle Glide
If you're new to them then Gentle Glide is probably the best choice.
