In order to understand war, you have to understand human nature.
It is a very complicated matter, but thinks about the elements that makes us human.
There are many of such elements, compassion, intelligence, etc, but there are also darker sides like greed, envy, etc
They are all part of our nature and in the case to wars and torture the US will not move a finger to stop it because it is not profitable.

In a war against what I believe to be the biggest threat our country has faced since WWII, the priority of our government had damn well better be on the war!
If we lose, all of our social programs will be non-issues completely.
mmmmmmm, a one world government under Islamic Law, without the infidels, of course - Covert to Islam or die?
Everything is exactly as it should be - and it's because of priorities, not the lack of them.
Hopefully, the future will present the United States with less of a national threat and we can again concentrate on the home front.

This is a hot issue here on the homefront to many, including myself.
Keep in mind that not only is there a presidential election in a couple of years (wouldn't want a dem or other non-rep candidate winning that election), but the Bush Administration is more concerned with oil and keeping the masses overseas placated by the proverbial Wolf in Sheep's Clothing.
We give millions, if not billions, to victims of international natural and man-created disasters, but we can't clean up our own backyard, and that includes the Katrina disaster.
The indigent who rely on subsidized services and Medicare are shoved off to a closet, their benefits slashed greatly. (By the way...I am a taxpayer and realize that there are those who truly are befelled by the lousy wage:cost of living ratio. Most of the mentally ill are sitting in jail and so are the unemployed who, for one reason or another, try to provide for themselves and their families by resorting to questionable if not illegal means. So don't let the "...our unemployment numbers are the lowest they've been ...blah-blah-blah" fool you. They are in jail or otherwise unaccounted for, so of course the unemployment numbers are going to appear low.
And then of course there's the deficit, what with the war and all.
This gives me a headache, but you and I are not alone wondering why the majority of the populace is chopped liver!
G'nite.

War and Torture???War is keeping our home soil safer.. the Demoncrats decimated our military and armaments during the Monica Lewinsky presidency,, SlimeBill Clinton.and his bunch.I agree that all the squawking about torture is pretty much "sensationalism" in order to sell newspapers...You want to see some torture ??? Have you seen the fanatics beheading any one?? I waited and waited, and finally i opened up one of the "Real Enemies" under Michael Savage.com.. I couldn't believe my eyes !! They had this guy tied up and blindfolded, on his knees .(The chickensh_t bastards all had face coverings) one guy grabbed his hair, yanked his head back and started sawing this guys throat with a Bowie type knife...The guy was screaming and gurgling as his head was cut off. Those guys at Abu Grave got tortured with a pair of panties.Gimme a break.

Get involved with a group if you have not yet done so. Billions of things are happening around the US. I see it everyday in my community and the news and the papers. Just get involved.

Survival is the first priority. The rest is secondary, and unimportant by comparison.
