I had a laparotomy 2 weeks ago. I recently noticed very very hard lumps right under the incision. I saw my doctor & he said it's normal scar tissue that will "melt away". Have others experienced this? Is my doctor right? The tissue is hard a s a rock & quite sore.

I have a similar problem. They do take a while to start disappearing- I've had multiple surgeries recently (the last 8 weeks ago) and the lumpy bits are only just starting to reduce. To help with the itching/soreness, I've been using elastoplast scar reduction patches- they've reduced the discomfort of the scars, as well as making them less visible.

Hope that helps

I have the same thing. I had the surgery in May and I still have a very hard lump under the scar- it is reddish pink too. The doctor said it is fine.

I had a chest tubes and for 8 or 9 months I had hard knots where the incisions were. They were very sore but they did go away. Put vitamin E oil on them it might help. I hope your test turn out OK! God bless!
