Most intelligent people DO understand sarcasm. Most intelligent people also realize that Bush bashing in disrespectful and divisive; just like Clinton bashing was. Good natured sarcasm is fun. Mean spirited and inflammatory sarcasm not only is bad for everyone's morale, but is also dangerous, because idiots with nothing better to do cling to it and start to repeat it as if it's real.

Sarcasm is an indirect way of communicating. In an online format, it is only natural that a direct communication style is going to be more clear. The people reading you don't know you and your personal style, they can't see your facial expression or body language. Emoticons can help a little but I noticed in your linked question that you didn't use any.

Speaking for myself, I am a very sincere and direct person and I consider this a positive trait, and I assume others share it unless I have a reason not to. So when I read a question I assume it is meant to be taken literally unless there person makes an effort to point out that they are joking. Why would they ask a question unless they really meant it?

Yes...and worse. They blame him for Daylight-Savings, Santa Claus, global warming, global cooling, el nino, homelessness, and 9/11.

So long as there are ignorant people in the world, there will always be someone who will believe almost anything. This cannot be stopped because they breed too quickly to round up...but they are sometimes identified by their bleeding hearts.

Unfortunately no one understands sarcasm because they all got their head so far stuck up each others AS* , that their brain is suffocating from lack of fresh air, and a sense of humor. I appreciate sarcasm, that's just who i am.

You gotta be careful what you say around here. Things can be taken very literally.
