This is a torx head screw and drivers are available at most hardware stores. Sears has them too, very common. You may be in over your head, have you asked a technician about the modem???

These are called "TORX" screws and the screwdrivers are called by the same name.
You can get a bit for your socket set or power screw driver also.
Check with your local Lowes, Home Depot, Hardware store or builder's supply house.
Not sure what you can do inside a modem, tho - they usually are not repairable in any economic sense of the word.
Any help?

Those that have answered Torx are correct, the one thing that everyone has failed to mention is that they come in various sizes, and you must have the correct size to fit your size Torx head screw.
Torx is a brand name, so you will find off brand driver bit’s often referred to as star head bit’s. The bit sizing is although universal, and can often be purchased in a set with various sizes.
There is also a version called tamper proof Torx, the standard Torx bit will not fit the tamper proof version. This version has a small pin coming up in the center of the screw head, and the tamper proof bit has a hole in the center to accept the pin on the screw head.

The screw shape on the right is a Allen Screw. The best way to tell is if it has a recessed hexagon slot , if it is a recessed star shape then it is a TORX screw. If it is a square hole it is a Square Drive screw. There are a variety of drivers available(screw driver, bit drive,t-handle) at most auto parts stores, you can also find them in the tool department at the big box stores(Home Depot etc.)

Philips screwdriver is what you need. Go to any hardware store. For that matter, almost any store sells them.
