First of all, you can absolutely overdose on Tylenol (acetaminophen); Tylenol overdose whether intentional or unintentional is the number one cause of acute liver failure in the US and is responsible for hundreds of deaths per year. And the previous respondent is correct that a person will likely not be symptomatic until its too late. There is NO "home treatment" but there is a treatment that can be administered in any US hospital (N-acetylcysteine also known as mucomyst) but must be given as early as possible and requires multiple doses. NOBODY should take more than 4000 milligrams of acetaminophen in any given day and people that drink any significant amount of alcohol no more than 3000 milligrams and may be inadvisable for other patients, such as those with underlying cirrhosis or those taking certain prescription medications, to take at all.
