I'll admit it, I'm in a bad mood. Some jacka** on this website really riled me up today and I'm probably suffering from a bit of PMS. That being said, I'd like to toss something out there and would really appreciate feedback from intelligent people (intelligent meaning an I.Q. of at least 110 or 120 -- the higher the better).

What is happening to America?

I just took a look around and realized that the majority of the people in this country are seriously lacking brain power (as is evidenced by many of the Q & A's on this website).

Is it just me, or is the intelligence of our society rapidly declining? People just seem all too willing to run their mouths off in support of idiotic ideals and when you call them on it, they have absolutely no good answers to give you.

So... do you think the idiots of the world are just breeding faster than those of us with higher intelligence or is there something in the air?

sree - Who said I didn't have answers? I have my own answers. I'm looking for the opinions of others. Anyone with any semblance of intelligence likes to get a feel for the big picture. It's called being open minded moron.

Even though I just joined the site I often wonder why dont people just look up the info themselves .
So, maybe some people dont want to make the effort, are in a hurry, or are very young.

Unfortunately I think part of the reason why so many people seem dumb is a combination of factors like a poor educational system, and a dysfunctional society and moral decay.

Along the same lines as what youre saying;
What I have trouble with is that alot of people seem to be lacking in knowing the difference between right and wrong.

Often the wrongdoer has some completely illogical reason for thinking the other guy is at fault.
It is mindboggling , and someone once said to me "don't try to make sense out of nonsense"

When I stopped expecting other people to think and understand like I do, I achieved a bit more peace of mind.
As I get older I find that acceptance goes a long way in achieving serenity.

Plus the fact that I make the odd mistake every now and then, it is a humbling experience, and instead of looking down on other people as much, I thank God for giving me an extra bit of brainpower.

Hope this helps!

According to the latest figures, U.S. schools are rated number 47th in the world. When my Dad went to school, they were rated number 1. That means that when we come out of high school, high school graduates from 46 other countries have a better understanding of math, science, etc... than we will. That makes ME sort of stupid in the world marketplace. No child left behind indeed!

I just want to respond to that Judy M's comment -- the reason U.S. test scores are declining is because of the rapid growth in illegal immigrant kids entering our school systems. They are dragging down the average US test scores in worldwide competitions.
