do you mean man as in mankind or a single individual?
if mankind, then i reckon the best thing is to learn to forgive and get on with living, instead of all this constant bickering over historical rubbish. if not then i don't see how we'll ever live in peace.
for a single individual, hmm i like some of the other answers like, the love of a women (or other man if you're gay), sex, fun, a stripclub even. I agree, the love and communication that's shared between two people is grand, and if they get a bit frisky and indulge each other once in awhile, then all the best to them.
life's meant for living, so best get on with it and enjoy i say.

By man I assume you mean mankind, or humanity (which is more PC). Where to start? Ask questions, but accept you may not get answers. Do the best you can, and accept that you don't have total control.

the unconditional long term love of a good/helpful woman. thats it....his life will be worthwhile if he has that and it will be fullfilling and happy...all the rest of the things that come with having a good woman will fall into place and make the rest of his life worthwhile as well.
but keep in mind that a bad woman can also mess up a mans life terribly as well. so you have to be lucky enough to find a good woman.
