How far along are you? My son-in-law bought one of those stethoscopes with the microphone on it and he listened to my granddaughter every day until she was born. But you have to be I think 12 or 14 weeks along to hear the heartbeat.

It really depends on how far along you are. The farther along you are the more you can hear and really detect the movement of your baby. If you can feel him/her moving around then usually thats around the time you can hear your baby. I had one of those monitors that you could convert and listen to your baby with headsets on. If you can get one of those your chances are very high of hearing your babies movement and possibly even their heartbeat, but you need to be in your 6th or 7th month for that, i forget how long you should be before you can hear the heart beat. My little girl just turned three and it's hard to remember that stuff now with her running around like a monkey...LOL. Anyway though, best of luck. Hope you hear the baby soon! Its a sound you honestly will never forget.

He is hearing movement, but not the babies. It is movement inside your body. Try just to the left or right of the belly button and down. Another thing make sure that the ear part of the stethoscope is pointed toward the front of your head, if that doesn't make sense email me and I will try to be more specific.

It might be the baby's heartbeat, it always sounds like swishes of water to me.

Swishes of water are actually your intestines or bladder (could actually be placenta noises as well)... sorry... :(

Try not eating for 3 hours (if you can go that long) and try it, when your stomach is empty.
