I travelled up through Brasil, it's a great country - so much to offer. Although...I have to confess the further north I went the more I liked it. South of Rio seemed so very different than Rio onwards. I spent a week in Rio and simply fell in love with it, then went up to Salvador, Recife, Olinda, Belem then up the Amazon to Manaus. Prior to Rio I'd been in Sao Paulo, Igauzu, Santa Catarina etc. Salvador is just fabulous, and I really loved Olinda. Belem was more fun than I'd expected and the boat up the Amazon was great - the chef became my friend and brought me coffee before it was put out downstairs for everyone else! I made great friends on my travels there, and enjoyed some fantastic football. I really look forward to the day I get to go back (I fancy doing carnival in Salvador and Olinda one year!). Love brazil, hate brazilian males in general, especially the drugged ones, so i dont think is safe to go on vacations to brazil without a good and sharp knife in my pocket :)
