Wow nice question. I'd hope my family is still alive(my parents and brothers). So all of my friends would move away or die? Well either make new ones or try to contact them and find out why the others died.

I would concentrate on getting my muscles back in shape... Which would take many months and in that time i would have made many friendships within the hospital.. And when i was released i would go and meet my old friends and have a cuppa and a chat... If things had changed considerably you have your friends at the hospital to fall back on if not your family... And you are healthy and fit which is a bonus :)

You would get more help than you need from health professional's, so don't worry about it.
Plus, you probly would be happy just to be alive and awake. Too hard to know what that would feel like exactly, since I have never woken up from a coma.

been in a coma of sorts for that long...prison for 4.5 just recently got out 5 months ago actually, and all my friends are dead, married and moved on or...in prison. what I was blessed with was finding a church that is actually one I like going to. i am attending Bible study's and in the praise and worship band...started up a Library there and am going to start a study once a week on Biblical topics that easily relate to our everyday lives...
God was with me the whole time, and has carried me afterward to now. and I am really hard to get along with because I really dont trust Anybody still....Praise God...He set me free!

I once had a dream that I had just been released from prison, after a significant sentence.
I went through culture shock, and I had nothing to do. I spent my days at a White Castle drinking coffee.
Whenever my life gets too hectic (its always hectic) I just have to think back to that dream, and I feel better.
I'd rather be overwhelmed then have nothing to do.

I'd join a support group. Maybe the people in it wouldn't end up being your best friends for life, but at least they would understand what you were going through and might help to get you adjusted to real life again.

Actually few people keep friends for 5 years anyway.
Most move or just change friends. Pretend you just moved to a new city.

become friends w/ family members. that way you can meet new people through them, and not feel isolated. church can be a very good place for friendship, also God, since He let you be in a coma...He had a reason for it... That's what I would do.

This is difficult to think about. I would probably have to rely on God. Not to get religous on you with all do respect. I would though have no choice but to rely on God fully! Since I have faith in God now, this is probably how I'd deal with it.
