OK, this is probably unorthodox but my parents and grandparents did this, and I did it for my kids a couple times when I was desperate (don't report me!). When a child was teething in our family, my dad would rub a little blackberry brandy on our gums. Just enough to get your fingertip wet. The taste isn't too bad, they certainly don't get drunk, and it seems to dull the pain. It gives them something to think about other than a sore mouth! Besides, a little shot for the adults once in awhile dulled the pain of listening to a crabby kid! ;)

Otherwise, I used baby Ora-Gel or a cold damp washcloth to chew on. I never found those "teething toys" did any good, even chilled. Maybe other parents used those and they worked but they never worked for my 4 kids.

When my little girl was teething I gave her a frozen waffle to chew on. Its soft enough for her to chew on and with it being cold it eased her pain. Also I used the cooling pads that you get for fevers (the ones that go on their forheads). They are soft as well and I never had a problem with her busting it or anything like that. I know its a hard situation that you are going through...also a temporary fix is the oragel swabs. The ones you break the tip off of. I used those which is less messy than the get itself. I hope you best of luck.

Teething is very difficult for the baby and the parents. The baby is in so much pain and doesn't understand and the parents are so upset that their baby is in pain.
We've tried teething tablets (you can find them pretty much anywhere) Orajel, cold wet wash clothes, teething rings.... The one thing that seems to comfort our baby is teething beads. They're like a teething ring, but look like toy beads. They are rubber & I guess feel good to their gums.
Good Luck, I know what you're going through.

Try getting somre Oragel or a generic over the counter teething gel that is made for babies. They have daytime and extra strenght nightime.
It runs about 7.00$ a bottle for the name brand, but it lasts for a while.

It works wonders. Also give baby plenty of cold(refridgerated, not frozen) teethers to chew on as this will relieve pain too.

Even with all that baby may still complain a little. Baby knows one thing....IT HURTS, and BABY doenst like that. :)

Well from experience I can't really say just yet. My daughter is going to be 4 months though. I've been reading about it and lots of people say tylenol and Hyland's teething tablets. They dissolve under the babies tongue. (Wal-Mart) So I bought some and will try those first. If it doesn't work well for her, then try Orajel. Also cold things for her to suck on... ex. teething rings or a cold wet wash cloth. Good Luck

My daughter hated the teething gels etc that I tried so a friend told me that what they did was buy one of the really BIG carrots, put it in the fridge or even freezer for a little while til it's good and cold and have the baby gnaw on it. My daughter loved it and kept her happy all day!

Creme de Menthe or Jack Daniels.

Not a lot and not all the time!!!!! Just a drop or two for the baby.

I've also heard the Creme de Menthe works well for women during "that time."

I know it sounds crazy, but if you will let him/her chew on a semi frozen green onion, it will help keep them less cranky due to the natural seditive in it. I teethed on them and so did my daughter. hope you give it a shot /

Hyland's Homeopathic Teething Tablets work wonderfully, much better than orajel. They do not burn their gums. They also seem to relax them.
