Check for dust....Open the cover (make sure to touch a metal outside part first to discharge electric) and blow out dust...
How does it run in safe mode?....
You may also want to check for spyware that may be eating resources....Download, Update, and run spybot search and destroy and adaware...Also do an online virus and trojan scan..
To check your temps....Use the EVEREST Free Edition 2.20 ...Excellent tool..

Give your tower some breathing room! As in space to allow cool air in/around it, direct a fan at it if needed.
If you are comfortable with working on it you should go buy you a "turbo fan" and replace the one you have which might be trying to go out. Otherwise you might burn up your system. Computers cannot take high heat....feel the top ...if it's hot shut that puppy down and get a new fan!

When it's getting louder, you can go to the Task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and choose "Processes" page. You'll the process that comsumes the most CPU resource. Then you may have an idea to tackle the problem

YOU DID NOT SAY WHICH FAN WAS GETTING LOUDER. IF IT IS THE FAN IN THE POWER SUPPLY, IT INDICATES THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT. REPLACE THE FAN OR THE ENTIRE POWER SUPPLY. IF THE FAN THAT IS MAKING NOISE IS THE CPU FAN, REPLACE THIS ONE. YOUR PC CRAWLS BECAUSE IT IS OVERHEATING AND WHEN THE SYSTEMS OVERHEATS, IT EITHER FREEZES OR TOTALLY SHUTS DOWN.

Duck and cover. SHE'S GONNA BLOW !
Seriously, run a systems diagnostic while working offline to isolate the problem.
