Some say it's because Bush wants to look good for the upcoming elections (wants republicans!)...

Myself? I dunno. I just know that I like it. If they go back up after the election I will wonder, but I'm gonna vote for whomever I want whether or not gas prices change.

There are many reasons gas is coming down. Many states are switching over to the winter blends, which have less detergents and less additives. Ethynol is also more available right now to be used.

It hasn't hurt that Opec has expanded production of oil and refinement of gasoline.

Additionally, the US refineries are all operating now too.

because they want you to feel good before they raise it to an incredible and uber-profit making amount. you will feel that 3.00 is not so bad when they raise it to 4.50. 3.00 will be a great deal. all we need is an emergency crisis like the CEO of a company to prick his finger on a rose for the gas prices to go back up. the company will not be able to function well if he has a band-aid on his finger. so that means prices must go back up.

It's call supply and demand. Supply is up. The additional strains (like 18 grades for summer usage) that drove prices up are over. However, we are one terrorist attack, or natural disaster away from closing a refinery or two.

Halliburton (Bush's favorite big oil corporation) and Bush love each other. Well at least Halliburton in the Mid-East is good for something. Doesn't justify the war though.

possibly because its the end of summer, and since no one is going on vacation anymore, and therefore driving around the country, the need for gas is less, and therefore they're dropping.....
