Proportion/ratio
hard to write here where you can't show it as well (pretend there are bars to make each side fractions)
1 = 5
x 15
Multiply the diagonal that does not have a variable (letter) in it
1 x 15 = 15.
Then divide that number by the 3rd number (5 in this case)
15/5 = 3
The x is 3, so
second example
x = 44
15 3
Multiply the diagonal withouot the variable (letter)
15 X 44 = 660
Divide that by the third number (3 in this case)
660/3 = 220. The x is 220
Is that what you are looking for?

Numerical
Now let's see a Problem on Ratio and Proportion.
A piece of string 175 cm in length was cut into two pieces, the ratio of their length was 5:2. Find the length of each piece.
Solution:
The ratio of the lengths of two pieces of the strings is 5:2. It means that the lengths of the two pieces are some common multiple of 5 and 2. Let this common multiple be x.
Then the lengths of two pieces are 5x cm and 2x cm respectively. As per the condition given in the problem, 5x + 2x = 175.
Therefore, 7x = 175
x = 25
Therefore, the length of the larger piece of string = 5x i.e., equal to 5 into 25 i.e., equal to 125 cm and the length of the smaller piece of the string is equal to 2x is equal to 2 into 25 that equals 50 cm.

1) multilply by x: x* 2/7 = 5 2 multiply by 7: x * 2 * 7/7 = 5*7 3) divide by 2 : x = 35 / 2 = 17.5 the notation a:b :: c:d is the SAME as a/b = c/d the ratio is greek geometry, the a/b is fractions algebra division, fractions, ratio, proportion, percent, and decimals are ALL THE SAME , just differnt ways to write the problem

Set it up as a fraction: for example, 3/4 = 2/x and solve for x. I'm an RN and that's how we set it up to do drug calculations.

for proportion the product of the means is equal to the product of the extremes
for eg
2:3::4:x
2*x=3*4
or u convert it into fractions which equal each other
for eg
2/3=4/x
