Can the law of conservation of mass be appied to a chemical reaction in which a gas is produced??

Yes because although some gas molecules may be lighter than air they still have mass, and it IS conserved.

It is a different mass so wouldn't it become the law of conservation of matter? I don't know, all I did in chemistry class was light things on fire!
