In my Anthropology 101 course several semesters ago we studied an indigenous tribe, I believe in south America, who believed something like "A life without killing a man isn't worth living." I was wondering if anyone knew the name of this tribe? I'm pretty sure the Koran was their religious text. Anyone know what the name of this tribe is?

You're probably thinking of the Yanimami. In the 1960s an anthropologist named Napoleon Chagnon popularized the idea that Yanomami are genetically predisposed to violence and have one of the most murderous and violent societies on earth. It has since been demonstrated that Chagnon's research suffered from a weakness of much human sociobiology--weak support for his theories led him to fabricate or overinterpret events, exaggerate results and stage fights, including the famous "axe fight" that he filmed and published.

If you're trying to score an anti-Islamic debating point, you're being too cute about it. I'm pro-Western and anti-jihad to the max, but I don't think that low level insults accomplish anything.

I'm not trying to put you down, just giving my opinion.....

As for South American Indians, try "Yanomami" or "Jivaro".
